The collection presents abstracts of the participants of the International scientific and practical conference "Caring for
soils in war and peace: status, monitoring and management", held on December 5, 2024 at the National Scientific Center
"Institute for Soil Science and Agrochemistry Research named after O. N. Sokolovsky" (Kharkiv, Ukraine) in an online
format. The abstracts reflect the results of the scientists' work on the research for a scientific basis and methodological
approaches to assessing the losses that soils suffered from military actions caused by Russian aggression. The abstracts
highlight the results of scientists' work on searching for scientific rationale and methodological approaches to assessing the
losses that soils suffered from military actions caused by russian aggression, and issues of post-war soil restoration,
elimination and prevention of degradation processes in soils and agricultural landscapes of Ukraine. Proposals are presented
for the implementation of innovative technologies in the agricultural sector, irrigation and water regulation, and in particular,
modern fertilization systems for agricultural crops into agricultural production on undamaged and liberated and reclaimed
lands. The topics of monitoring and control of soil quality using the national regulatory framework are covered, and prospects
for developing a system of indicators and measurement methods and their harmonization with international ones are outlined,
taking into account the requirements of the relevant European directives.
The collection of theses is addressed to scientists, teachers of agricultural universities, postgraduate students, students
and everyone who is interested in the state of soils.
