Foreign partners

Global Soil Partnership (GSP) – is a globally recognized mechanism established in 2012 with the mission to position soils in the Global Agenda and to promote sustainable soil management. The Partnership, hosted by FAO, works hard to improve soil governance to guarantee productive soils towards food security, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and sustainable development for all.
Terms of partnership: NSC ISSAR has been a partner of GSP since March 18, 2014. Since 05.06.2015, NSC ISSAR ia a GSP Focal Point from Ukraine. The NSC ISSAR is also a partner of all international soil networks operating under the auspices of the GSP/FAO:
· International Network of Soil Information Institutions (INSII);
· Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN);
· International Network of Black Soils (INBS);
· International Network of Salt-Affected Soils (INSAS);
· International Network on Fertilizer Analysis (INFA);
· International Network on Soil Biodiversity (NETSOB);
· International Network on Soil Pollution (INSOP).
Global Soil Partnership

European Soil Partnership (ESP) is a regional branch of the GSP.
Partnership terms: partnership. Aspects of membership: development of international relations, contacts with leading "soil" organizations of Europe, access to informational materials of the European Union, participation in international ESP projects.
European Soil Partnership

International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) is the global union of soil scientists in order to support all branches of soil science and all soil scientists. Public Organization " Ukrainian Society of Soil Scientists and Agrochemists "(PO "USSSA"), which functions on the basis of the NSC ISSAR. Individual members of IUSS are employees of Soil Geoecophysics Laboratory named after Academician of NAAS V.V. Medvedev. Aspects of membership: development of international relations, receipt of information materials, participation in IUSS events, participation in elections of IUSS governing bodies.
International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS)

European Society for Soil Conservation (ESSC) is an interdisciplinary, non-political association with more than 500 members in 42 countries, including scientists, teachers, students, farmers, politicians with interests in agriculture, soil science, economics, forestry, ecology, etc. Terms of partnership: Individual membership. Aspects of membership: development of international relations, receipt of information materials ("News of ESSC" journal).
European Society for Soil Conservation (ESSC)

International Soil Tillage Research Organisation (ISTRO) focuses on the impact and consequences of different methods of soil treatment. Terms of partnership: Individual membership. Individual members of IUSS are employees of Soil Geoecophysics Laboratory named after Academician of NAAS V.V. Medvedev. Aspects of membership: development of international relations, receipt of informational materials (journal «Soil and Tillage Research»  for use during planning and conducting scientific works.
International Soil Tillage Research Organisation (ISTRO)

European Technology Platforms (FOOD FOR LIFE) Program, project: "Strategy for European Technology Platforms: ETP 2020" of the European Commission. Partnership terms: Partnership. Aspects of membership: entry of the NSC ISSAR into the European research space, participation in the development of a joint plan of actions and measures; implementation of targeted and interactive research and innovation; conclusion of agreements on scientific and technical cooperation, exchange of information.
European Technology Platforms (FOOD FOR LIFE)

International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) – scientific and technical voluntary non-commercial non-governmental international organization). Terms of partnership: Individual membership. Aspects of membership: updating information on global trends in water and land management and improving the productivity of irrigated lands, water protection; participation in conferences, exchange of experience; development of unified ways and methods of controlling and improving the quality of irrigation water.
International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID)

Avalon European network(the development of organic agriculture) unites farmers, state institutions, research institutes and enterprises in the field of organic agriculture, biodiversity, agro-environment and sustainable development of rural areas. Terms of partnership: Partnership. Aspects of membership: development of international relations, obtaining information on the development of organic agricultural production; participation in conferences, seminars; exchange of experience, etc.
European network "Avalon" for the development of organic agriculture

Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) Partnership terms: Individual membership. Individual members of FEMS are scientists of Soil Microbiology Sector. Aspects of membership: development of international relations, exchange of experience and obtaining information on directions of use of microbiological technologies in agriculture.

TUDelft Energy Transition Lab (ETL) is the oldest and largest technical university in the Netherlands, which is part of various university associations, including IDEA League, CESAER, UNITECH and 3TU.
Partnership terms: joint execution and implementation of projects aimed at the post-war restoration of the energy system of Ukraine based on the spread of biogas use.

Bioclear Earth — the institution, founded in 1988 as a department from the University of Groningen (Netherlands), is an innovative and consulting company in the fields of soil, water and climate. The Company's mission is to make the world clean, safe and sustainable by "creating the power of nature". At least 20% of the Company's annual turnover falls on the development of new and innovative technologies. The team includes 35 highly qualified employees, including biotechnologists, microbiologists, soil scientists and technologists. The company works on various projects in the field of soil and groundwater remediation, soil health, phytoremediation, bioaugmentation, climate adaptation and eco-engineering.
Terms of partnership: joint implementation of projects for participation in events. The Institute works together to find directions for integrated soil fertility management aimed at restoring/maintaining soil fertility and ecosystem functions through proper land use.

ETH Zurich — the mission of the Swiss Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS) is to contribute to the creation and dissemination of knowledge about agricultural ecosystems and their complex interactions with the environment and human society. The IAS addresses current and emerging challenges to ensure the long-term sustainability of agricultural production and food systems to meet human needs.
Terms of Partnership: Collaborative Studies on Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) Sequestration Using the DayCent Agroecosystem Model. The DayCent model is a land use management model that can simulate crop biomass and/or yield, soil carbon and nitrogen dynamics, emissions of N2O, nutrient dynamics and greenhouse gas fluxes in different plant or soil systems. The model can simulate long-term ecosystem responses to changes in climate, land use, and agricultural management practices in cropland, grassland, forest, and savanna ecosystems. In Ukraine, we are investigating the potential of DayCent to model soil organic matter (SOM) sequestration through organic agriculture in chernozems, which, due to lower levels of SOM decomposition in these soils, may have different patterns than most European soils. Thus, this study has a combined approach using data from past studies and local samples of SOM from a case study in northeastern Ukraine. The partnership also provides for joint participation in measures aimed at reducing the consequences of climate change based on sustainable land use.

University of Kassel — a state university in Kassel, founded in 1971, which is one of the most famous universities in Germany.
Terms of partnership: joint research and participation in events. One of the priority directions of cooperation is the implementation of LandSHIFT modeling together with technical specialists of the university, internship of NSC ISSAR employees in Germany. LandSHIFT is a land use change model for global and regional simulation experiments. Its main purpose is to model the interaction of socio-economic factors and the biophysical environment that determines land use and changes in land use, as well as to assess the impact of these changes on human society and the environment. The design of the model aims to provide a tool that can play a central role in scenario analysis projects. The main objective is to identify the portfolio of land-based climate change mitigation technologies (LMT) in Ukraine and analyze the relevant mitigation potential taking into account other potentially conflicting land use requirements.

Adverio Engineering —  is a network company that was founded in 2011 by its current directors, Rinus Rinia and Wim Freiling, to offer its clients worldwide their extensive experience in the development, design, construction and operation of projects in the field of renewable energy and water treatment.
Partnership terms: conducting joint research on the development of scenarios for the rational economic and logistical location of the biogas production network on the territory of Ukraine. Joint work on the project of the post-war restoration of the independent energy system of Ukraine on the basis of biogas production.

ALCES Landscape and Land-Use Ltd is an interdisciplinary company that brings together a team of scientists, consultants and software developers, which is focused on providing a strategic understanding of the consequences of human activity on our planet and society.
Partnership terms: joint work on the ALCES-modeling project of mitigating scenarios of the consequences of climate change and military actions on the territory of Ukraine.

Joint Implementation Network (JIN) Climate and Sustainability — is a knowledge center that focuses on climate change policy issues in general and the concept of emissions trading in particular. The JIN network was founded in 1995 and is based in Groningen (Netherlands). Since 2001, JIN has been working regularly on EU-funded projects in the fields of climate change, sustainable development, energy efficiency and the creation and transfer of low-emission technologies in the context of sustainable growth. JIN is a permanent advisor to the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat and the United Nations Environment Program on climate-sustainable pathways for developing countries.
Partnership conditions: joint implementation of projects and participation in activities aimed at identifying possible LMTs that may be of interest to Ukraine to reduce CO emissions2 and achieving net absorption of carbon from the atmosphere; definition of the national LMT portfolio (organic farming, agroforestry (buffer strips), less intensive tillage, bioenergy) and the base scenario (taking into account the development of the agricultural sector, urbanization, nature protection, etc.); modeling land use scenarios up to 2032 and 2050 to reflect future land use changes with different levels of LMT portfolio implementation; analysis of potential land use constraints and the impact of land use change and climate change on the carbon balance; differentiation of policy implications.
Joint Implementation Network (JIN) Climate and Sustainability

Agroinsider — a company whose activities are aimed at the environmental sustainability of agriculture through carbon neutrality. The company specializes in the carbon market and develops projects for the quantitative determination of carbon on the farm based on the analysis of its activities according to the Agroinsider methodology.
Partnership terms: joint implementation of projects and participation in activities aimed at achieving the goals of global climate neutrality for 2035 and 2050.
