Main directions of scientific, economic and marketing activities

• Development of methodological approaches and preparation for the transfer of innovative technologies in the field of soil science, agrochemistry and soil protection.
• Organization and conducting of marketing research regarding the study of potential and promising sales markets, dynamics and specifics of demand for scientific and technical products of the Institute.
• Substantiation of technical and economic indicators of scientific developments and paid services provided by the Institute.
• Conducting scientific research on commercialization of objects of intellectual property rights.
• Development of business plans, business projects, production programs, innovation and investment projects.
• Patent and opportunistic research on topical topics of government orders and on orders of organizations, enterprises and institutions;
• Registration of Ukrainian patents for inventions and utility models and state registration of copyright objects (computer programs, databases, literary and scientific works, cartographic materials, etc.).
• Evaluation of the value of official objects of intellectual property rights and conclusion of agreements regarding the disposition of property and non-property rights to such objects (copyright agreements, license agreements, agreements on the transfer of property rights, technology transfer agreements, etc.).
• Advertising and promoting activity;

Main areas of international activity

• Supporting the activities of the Institute, as a Focal Point from Ukraine, related to cooperation with the Global Soil Partnership (FAO);
• Implementation of measures aimed at the Institute's entry into the International Network of Soil Information Institutions (INSII);
• Assisting in the establishment of the Institute's cooperation with foreign partners and the promotion of scientific developments abroad;
• Participation in international scientific projects; preparation of agreements on international scientific and technical cooperation; proposals for foreign internships;
• Increasing the image of the Institute and its leading scientists in the English-speaking scientific space;
• Search and implementation of scientific projects, commercial international agreements, other proposals of foreign customers; supporting the preparation of projects for participation in the framework program of the European Union "Horizon Europe";
• Ensuring the Institute's participation in sectoral international organizations; preparation of English-language advertising and informational materials.

Other activities of the Department

• Підготовка та видання Міжвідомчого тематичного наукового збірника «Агрохімія і ґрунтознавство» (ISSN 0587-2596; e-ISSN 2616-6852 doi.org/10.31073/acss). Збірник засновано Інститутом у 1966 році (свідоцтво про державну реєстрацію КВ №20942-10742Пр) для публікації наукових статей за результатами теоретичних, експериментальних та методичних досліджень з актуальних напрямів ґрунтознавства, агрохімії, агроекології, землеробства та інших наук. Згідно з наказом Міністерства освіти та науки України від 28.12.2019 №1643 збірник внесено до Переліку наукових фахових видань України в у галузях сільськогосподарські та біологічні науки за спеціальностями 201 Агрономія і 091 Біологія і включено до Групи «Б». З часу заснування загальна кількість випусків становить 95; починаючи з 2013 року повні тексти статей публікуються на Веб-сайті – http://agrochemsoilsci.org/ .
• Організація роботи наукової бібліотеки Інституту. Бібліотека заснована 1956 року і на сьогодні її фонд нараховує біля 80 тисяч примірників видань спеціальної наукової, науково-технічної та довідкової літератури з усіх аспектів ґрунтознавства й агрохімії, а також суміжних наук – геології, гідрології, геоморфології, біохімії, агроекології, мікробіології, фізіології рослин та інших. Основою бібліотечного фонду є фундаментальні праці засновників ґрунтознавства та агрохімії: В.В. Докучаєва, Д.М. Прянишникова, В.Р. Вільямса, О.Н. Соколовського, інших. Бібліотека має унікальний фонд раритетних видань, залучених із приватних зібрань академіка О.Н. Соколовського, професорів М.К. Крупського, О.М. Можейка, О.М. Грінченка, відомих вчених Г.С. Гриня, В.Д. Кисіля, О.О. Кірєєва. Винятково цінною є колекція періодичних видань (26200 примірників) від початку минулого століття до цього часу. Бібліотека має вагомий фонд енциклопедичних видань. З 2013 року фонд бібліотеки заноситься до електронного каталогу «ІРБІС», формуються власні бази даних (каталоги): книг, журнальних статей, наукових праць співробітників Інституту, авторефератів і дисертацій, звітів та інше. Бібліотека підтримує міжнародні зв’язки з книгообміну.
• На базі наукової бібліотеки Інституту 2017 року створено електронну Інформо-бібліометричну базу даних “Бібліометрика ІҐА” опублікованих (починаючи з 1909 р.) робіт співробітників Інституту, яка є зібранням упорядкованої інформації  та сучасним засобом бібліометричного моніторингу – накопичення і систематизування бібліометричних даних з метою використання їх для оцінювання публікаційної активності  та наукової продуктивності як окремих учених, так і підрозділів (лабораторій або відділів) Інституту. Інформо-бібліометрична база даних також є автономним блоком Ґрунтової інформаційної системи, створюваної в Інституті для забезпечення діяльності Українського Ґрунтово-інформаційного центру. В межах цієї функції БД є джерелом багатогранної інформації про ґрунти і стан розвитку наукових і практичних проблем і досягнень ґрунтознавства в Україні, висвітленої у публікаціях співробітників ННЦ ІГА.
